1. BE THE BEACON YOUR TEAM NEEDS
As a business leader, your team will need 5 things from you; Calm, Clarity, Communication, Connection and clarity.
Your interpersonal communication is not just about what you say – the language used – but how it is said and the non-verbal messages sent through tone of voice, facial expressions, gestures and body language. Develop a versatile and effective toolkit that helps you to communicate more effectively with much greater confidence and clarity.
2. DON'T LET YOUR MEETINGS SLIP.
Some call it a meeting rhythm, some a communications pulse, but it's important during times like these, that we don't let our meetings slip.
Don't stop this 'heartbeat' of your business
Continue your weekly meetings, whether they are remotely over video of via telephone conference,
Don't skip your quarterly planning. You still need to clarify plans, set goals and solve issue together as a team
Manage your goals in meetings so that you are not committing to too many, bit are committed to the same outcomes.
3. CONTINUE CLEAR COMMUNICATIONS ACROSS THE TEAM
Continues to communicate frequently and proactively with your teams, employees, partners, customers and vendors, repeating yourself often (at least 7 times) to ensure that your message is received and understood. In every situation, communicating and engaging should remain undisrupted to ensure clarity and confidence.
4. KEEP IT SIMPLE AND STREAMLINE WHERE NEEDED.
It can be easy to try and do too much, and therefore achieve too little.
Consider eliminating products and services that are currently unprofitable or no longer part of the core focus you need to continue your business.
These are also the times when you could consider updating your technology, communications, templates, processes and systems to help you improve your efficiency and productivity.
5. KEEP YOUR EYES PEELED FOR OPPORTUNITIES
Prioritise your customer care and look for ways to add additional value in your business. You will need to stay 'front-of-mind', so continue to market (your competitors will be) and if you can, find a way to continue selling.
With all opportunities, you need to weigh them against your core focus in order to identify the 'Shiny New Thing' and your real opportunities.
6. CLARIFY YOUR STRUCTURE
Anticipate the changes to your sales, revenue and delivery and re-address your accountability structure to support these changes. This will mean evaluating your teams core value and fit while you focus on the right people in the right seats at the right time.
