Top tips for marketing your attraction to families

Marketing to families can be a hard task, the latest trends are forever changing and it’s important to keep on top of what’s hot and what’s not in order to successfully target the family market. Here are our top tips to target your marketing campaigns just right.

Segment your audience

Segmenting your audience based on demographic characteristics like age, gender, income etc can really benefit your marketing. It means you can offer a far more tailored experience to your visitors; every family is different from the next, and the more relevant you can be, the more likely they are to spend with you.

Have a look at local accommodation providers and see if there is a way to partner up. By providing a package deal of accommodation plus tickets to your attraction both businesses can utilise each other's audience and gain some free exposure at the same time – win win!

Having a schedule of themed events throughout the year to include character appearances and interactive trails can be a good excuse to target younger audiences. Don’t forget to make sure your events run during the school holidays. Do your homework here – popular characters can easily become old news. Always check out the competition first to make sure your event is unique from the others.

Target the new social networks

The easiest and simplest way to get your message across is to advertise your attraction on social media to encourage people to visit. There are often new platforms popping up, so it’s important to keep up with the latest trends. If you don’t already include Snapchat in your strategy, it is certainly worth considering it. Snapchat is an image sharing platform that allows you to add images to your story, much like Instagram. However, it can be a quite a time consuming platform, so do make sure you have the manpower and image library to run it!

Reply quickly

When marketing to kids and teens, social media is where most of your target consumers are hanging out. Social media moves fast, so make sure there is always someone on the other end that is able to reply quickly and efficiently. It is so important to be able to reply to messages, comments and feedback as quickly as possible – this will pay you dividends in return.

Video content

Posting sharable video content to your audiences is a great way to keep youngsters engaged. Kids and teenagers respond to video best. Think about ways in which you can tell a story about your attraction. Utilise your brand character or focus on some cute animals or exhilarating rides. Content like this will create an online buzz and will encourage sharing and therefore great engagement with your pages!
